  • 1. Ulaanbaatar-Zorgol Khairkhan-Naiman Nuur-Kharkhorin-Ulaanbaatar

    Zorgol Khairkhan – This is a sacred mountain, found in the area of Bayan Unjuul soum of Tov province, about 150 km from Ulaanbaatar. The peak is 1686m above the sea level. Zorgol Khairkhan Mountain is venerated and revered by the local people, who believe that it is the siege of a great, benevolent spirit. The huge, red granite mountain does indeed have a diverse and beautiful nature to offer. It has many caves and water springs. Lucky visitors may see wild animals like mountain goats, ibex and eagles. There are several burial sites of ancient Mongol soldiers around this mountain. According to shamanic custom, pronouncing the name of the holy mountains while visiting them is forbidden.

    Naiman Nuur – Naiman lake was created by volcanic eruptions centuries ago, covers 11,500 hectares around the lake located in Ovorkhangai Province to the southwest of the Khangai Mountain Range. Naiman Nuur with its exceptional configuration is surrounded by the beautiful nature of the middle part of the Khangai Mountain. These lakes with fresh water and interconnected by ground water channels such as Shireet, Khaliut, Bugat, Khaya, Khuis, Onon, Doroo, Bayan-Uul are called Khuisyn Naiman Nuur. It was placed under state protection in 1992.

    Kharkhorin and Erdenezuu - an ancient capital of Great Mongolian Empire and main treasure of Mongolian Buddhism, Erdenezuu Monastery. Kharkhorin was established in the valley of Orkhon river in 1220. Kharkhorin played significant role in Mongolian history and was a capital city of Mongolian Great Empire until Khubilai Khaan, a grandson of Chinggis Khaan moved the capital to Beijing of Yuan Dynasty. Erdenezuu Monastery – the first Buddhist monastery was founded by Avtai Sain Khaan, descendant of Chinggis Khaan, on the ruins of Kharkhorin in 1586. The monastery is surrounded by beautiful looking white walls with 108 stupas. For centuries it was a spiritual and intellectual centre of Mongolia and there are extraordinary collection of Buddhist paintings, priceless religious objects, special dresses for Tsama religious dance and excellently made Buddhist iconography with true Mongolian and Tibetan style.

    2. Ulaanbaatar - Ikh Gazariin Chuluu – Baga Gazriin Chuluu – Naiman Nuur – Kharkhorin – Ulaanbaatar

    Ikh Gazriin Chuluu - It is 30 km long and 15 km wide diorite, granite stones-mountain elevated at 1709m above sea level. There are over 30 herbals like Sedum Rosea, silverweed, astragalus, over 20 strictly protected animals, over 40 big and small caves, and different kinds of minerals like crystal, chalcedony, jade, fluorspar, ferum, copper, grindstone and slate.

    Baga Gazriin Chuluu - The highest one is 15 km long and 10 km wide granite stone-mountain elevated at 1768m above sea level. There are also over 20 kinds of medical herbs like burnet, many kinds of world rare animals like marmot, ibex and mountain sheep. Also you can see Bolort Cave, eye treatment spa, rock images, petroglyphs many other sightseeing. There is a ruin of Choir monastery which was established by “Zava” Damdin, a famous ancient historical, religious and scientific researcher. This monastery had a monastery with few monks translate, print, explain and advertise books from Tibetan languages and research religious philosophy and medical science.

    Terelj National Park - Terelj was founded as a park in 1994 and is located on the edge of Khan Khentii mountain range. Edelweiss is also very common here. The forests are full of birch, cedar, pine, willow, larch and aspen as well as foxes, wolves and squirrels. The alpine scenery and fantastic rock of Terelj National Park formed the homelands of Genghis Khan and his hordes. The rock formations of the park are fascinating, while the 250 plus bird species make it an enchanting place to relax. Some of the rock resembles the long spiky bodies of prehistoric animals. Nomadic tribesmen still drive their herds around these pastures.

    Khagiin Khar Lake - a picturesque lake that is located between Khiidiin Saridag Mountain and Lake Khunkher Uul and Asgat Saridag of the Khentii Mountain range. The water of the Khagiin Khar Lake is about 30m deep with a surface altitude of 1800m and covering 4 square km. The lake formed as a result of the glacier action that occurred during the Quaternary Era in very recent geological time.
