  • According to a Mongol proverb, “a Mongol man without a horse is like a bird without wings”. Mongolian nomadic culture is intensely linked to horses. Mongolian children grow up with horses, becoming skillful riders before they are five. The horse and the nomadic lifestyle enabled the Mongols led by Chinggis Khaan and his descendants to amass the largest empire the world has ever known. The Mongol horse is small; about 1.3 meters tall at the shoulder. The horse is the most practical form of transportation in Mongolia. It is a pleasure to be unconstrained by roads or traffic lights, and free to go in any direction! Fermented mare's milk, airag, is Mongolia's drink of choice. This mild beverage has a slightly acidic taste and is great for quenching thirst. The beverage is a staple of the summer diet of Mongols and no celebration is complete without it.

  • Day 1.

Ulaanbaatar. A professional Gucci World Tours Team will greet you at the “Chinggis Khan” international airport and transfer you to one of the best quality hotels in downtown Ulaanbaatar.

    Day 2.

Gorkhi Terelj National Park. After breakfast, we will drive to the Gorkhi Terelj National Park. Terelj was founded as a national park in 1994 and is located on the edge of Khan Khentii mountain range. Terelj is the name of a plant (Latin ledum) which is very abundant in the area and which flowers at the end of the spring. Edelweiss is also very common here. The alpine scenery and fantastic rock formations of Terelj National Park were the homelands of Genghis Khan and his hordes. The rock formations of the park are fascinating, while more than 250 bird species make it an enchanting place to relax. Some of the rock formations resemble the bodies of prehistoric animals. Nomadic tribesmen still herd their herds in the pastureland. After arriving at the ger camp, we will start our horse ride along the valley to the Tuul River. Today is a day to know your Mongolian horses and practice short distance-riding. Overnight in the ger camp.

    Day 3.

Turtle Rock/Aryabala Meditation Center. After breakfast at the camp, we will start our adventurous horse ride in the park. The riding distance will be 25-30km per day. On the way, we will explore the magnificent alpine landscape. Many people call it “the Switzerland of Mongolia.” It is an excellent place for horse riding, hiking and river rafting. The most popular granite rock formation is called Turtle Rock - a gigantesque rock carved by only wind and rain. Our next stop is the Buddhist meditation centre called Aryabala Temple. Nestled in hills, Aryabala offers a unique and wonderful view of the Terelj area. We will ride 25-30 km to the Khan Khentii mountain range passing beautiful Terelj River, lush green meadows, and steppes with willows. Terelj River is a mid sized stream with many rapid flows. It starts at the Asralt Khairkhan Mountain and is full of lenok, salmon and sturgeon. We will overnight in a tent in the back country.

    Day 4.

Horse riding/Zaan Terelj Area. After breakfast in the amazing forest steppe, we will continue our second day of riding. We will ride along the Terelj River to the remotest corner of the valley, called Ulyn Bulan, a hidden place with few inhabitants. The distance of the ride will be 25-35km. We enjoy some photo opportunities of wildlife and a stopover in a nomadic herdsmen's encampment area. You will experience everyday life of local herdsmen. The most important practice would be tasting airag-Mongolia's drink of choice. We will ride back to our base camp where we will spend the night.

    Day 5.

Horse riding/Ulaanbaatar. After breakfast, we will spend the morning riding in the valley between the granite rocky mountains. Our route will take us through the wide-open steppes that Mongolia is most renowned for –past grazing herds of sheep, horses and nomadic gers. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar. We will visit Gandan Monastery, the heart of Mongolian yellow head Buddhism. We will experience the sense of Buddhism in Mongolia, and see the outstanding and impressive 24m gold plated statue of Buddha; Megjid Janraiseg. This monastery is the largest and most important monastery of Mongolia with 500 monks. The rest of your day is for last minute shopping and exploring the city. Overnight and relax in the hotel.
